Our Events
Below, you will find a few of the typical events we offer on a weekly basis. We are always striving to make the events meaningful and as energizing as possible. If you have any questions about any of the BSU events, please do not hesitate to send an email to truman_bsu@yahoo.com.Fuel
FUEL is the weekly, student-led service held at the BSU. We set aside this time for students to come and engage in worship and to hang out. Typically, a student speaker shares a topic from the Bible that is relevant to students' lives. The music team leads the group in worship to help further connect people with God. In addition to the music, we also provide art, journaling, and communion as other outlets of worship. FUEL never looks exactly the same way every week; we are constantly changing the atmosphere, speaking topics, and worship to make it fresh and engaging. Come and join us for a time of praise, learning, and fellowship. If you have any questions or would like to help in the production of FUEL, please e-mail Alana at aaw120@truman.edu.Missional Communities
Missional communities are something new that we're starting this year at the BSU. They're similar to small groups because they provide a time for people to share life together, but they are different because they're more outwardly focused so that we can better impact Truman's campus. Our goals with these communities are to help students connect with other students in an intimate, communal setting and to facilitate a personal and unique relationship with God. We want to help students at all stages in their walk with God grow together, so the groups will remain open enough where all students can feel comfortable asking questions and explore different aspects of their faith.
Common Grounds
Common Grounds is a coffeehouse that happens (almost) every Friday from
8:00-10:00 p.m. at the One10 building. We serve anything from shakes and smoothies, to cappuccinos
and lattes, to hot chocolate and apple cider. And of course, cookies - delicious, giant cookies. But Common Grounds is much more than just drinks and
cookies, Common Grounds is a place to make connections. Our goal is to be a
place that anyone is comfortable coming to so that new friendships are formed
and old friendships are strengthened. Throughout the year, we host special
theme nights (some in the past have been 80s night, open mic night, and A
Capella night featuring Truman's own True Men) which are always really fun, but
we would also encourage you to come just for a relaxing night of coffee and
board games. So if you're looking for a place to wind down from a stressful
week, or to hang out with old friends, or to connect with new friends, come on
over and visit us at Common Grounds! For more information, join our facebook
group "Common Grounds" or contact Audra at akg437@truman.edu.
