Camp Promotion Report

Updated on October 29, 2010

As Scouting's National Honor Society, one of Shawnee Lodge's basic objectives is to promote the camping program of the Greater St. Louis Area Council. This is now done by promoting Cub Scout Packs by visiting them by members of the chapter camping promotion committee.

Cub Scout is the high point of the year for a Cub Scout, and can encourage them to countinue there scouting career yet many Scouts are hesitant about attending camp because they've never been there. The lodge has started this program becuase they noticed that Cub scout camp numbers continue to drop while boy scout camp numbers stay steady. Hopfully this progam with the help of you will change this trend.

As a camp promoter you will be given a packet at a Camp Promotion Meeting which contains facts about camp and helpful hints on how to make your presentation. You will promote the Pack(s) as a member of a team. The Cubmaster will need to be contacted and a date set for your promotion. On that date your team will go to the troop with all the materials and talk to them about camp, at the same time encouraging everyone to attend camp. You'll find almost everyone leaving your presentation wanting to go to camp, and you will also receive a lodge camp promoter emblem for your efforts.

We are working hard to schedule our first camp promotion meeting and when we get the dates and times we will post them here
