Vigil Honor Recipients

Shawnee Lodge Vigil Honor Candidates for 2008 were announced at the annual Lodge Winter Fellowship Banquet held Monday, December 17, 2007. Twenty-four arrowmen were selected for their outstanding service to Scouting and the Order of the Arrow. Among those Arrowmen, Pathfinder had two members become 2008 Vigil Honor Candidates. Below is a brief description of the qualifications of those who recieved Vigil in our chapter (as seen in the 2008 Vigil Honor recipients pamplet.)

Daniel J. Corce

Eagle Scout Dan Corce serves as a tremendous example of passion and dedication to the Order of the Arrow and the camping program. Dan has served his chapter as both Camp Promotion and Elangomat Chairman. In addition last year Dan served as the Lodge Elangomat Chairman where he worked tirelessly to develop the new lodge wide Extended Elangomat program. For his district, Dan has served on numerous Camporee and Klondike staffs. In addition Dan has spent the past two summers working in the aquatics area on summer camp staff at S-F. His commitment to the Order earned him his chapter’s Distinguished Arrowman Award last year. For his selfless service to scouting and the Order, we enthusiastically nominate Daniel J. Corce for the vigil honor.

Miles McKinney

Scouter Miles McKinney has given back tirelessly to scouting and the Order of the Arrow. He served his chapter as ceremonial team advisor for over 3 years during which he worked to continue strengthening the chapter’s ceremonial team program. Currently, Miles is serving his chapter as the chapter advisor where he continues to be a valuable asset in mentoring the youth leadership within his chapter. For his efforts, Miles has been awarded the District Award of Merit as well as his chapter’s Distinguished Arrowman Award. For his undying dedication to the Order of the Arrow and Scouting’s principles we ardently nominate Miles McKinney for the vigil honor.
