Shawnee Lodge Vigil Honor Candidates for 2009 were announced at the annual Lodge Winter Fellowship Banquet held Monday, December 15, 2008. Thirty arrowmen were selected for their outstanding service to Scouting and the Order of the Arrow. Among those Arrowmen, Pathfinder had three members become 2009 Vigil Honor Candidates. Jory W. Cook

Jory Cook has served as a consistent example of dedication to the Order of the Arrow. Jory has served his chapter as Camp Promotion Chairman, twice as Second Vice Chief, and is currently serving his second term as Chapter Chief. For his dedication to his chapter, Jory has earned his chapterís Distinguished Arrowman Award. In addition, Jory has served his district by working on numerous camporee and klondike staffs including once as Campmaster. Jory also spent a summer at S bar F working on the councilís summer camp staff. For his tremendous spirit and commitment to the Order of the Arrow and the camping program, we proudly nominate Jory W. Cook for the Vigil Honor.

Dennis R. Gallagher

Scouter Dennis Gallagher serves as a living example of brotherhood, cheerfulness, and service. Dennis has played an important part in the development of his chapterís ceremonial teams over the years, working with many young ceremonialists to develop their characters. He currently serves his chapter as the Camp Promotion Adviser. In addition, Dennis has served as an adviser on numerous camporee and klondike staffs. His continued commitment to the Order of the Arrow and the camping program has earned him the District Award of Merit, his Wood Badge beads, as well as his chapterís Distinguished Arrowman Award. For his eternal passion for the Scouting program, we enthusiastically nominate Dennis R. Gallagher for the Vigil Honor.

Benjamin M. Kaufman

Eagle Scout Ben Kaufman serves as a model for selfless service to the Order of the Arrow and the camping program. Ben has served his chapter as Camp Promotion Chairman as well as the lodge as Service Chairman and Banquet Chairman. In addition, Ben has served his district on numerous camporee and klondike staffs, serving as Campmaster in 2006. Ben has spent the past four summers working on the councilís summer camp staff. At camp, Ben has earned a reputation for being a hard worker and having a tremendous attitude. His efforts in the Order of the Arrow have earned him his chapterís Distinguished Arrowman Award. For his astounding service to the Order and the camping program, we ardently nominate Benjamin M. Kaufman for the Vigil Honor.
