Jack J. Sophir Arrowman of the Year Award Recipients

This award is given out to Arrowmen who have performed outstanding service to Scouting and the Order of the Arrow. The awards are presented each year at the Chapter Fellowship Banquet in February. If you know someone worthy, nominate that person; do not expect someone else to do it for you. Each year, only a few forms are turned in and many deserving people do not get chosen. 2009 Recipients

Chris Gallagher

Brotherhood member Chris Gallagher has shown great dedication in the order by his enthusiastic attitude, constant service, and extraordinary efforts. Chris has served the chapter as Troop Representative Chairman and is currently serving as the 2nd Vice Chief. Chris is a veteran member of the chapter’s ceremonial team and won first place at Order of the Arrow Summer Camp as best Allowat Sakima, giving him a chance to compete at NOAC. Last summer Chris also served on the council’s NYLT staff. Chris’ dedication can be seen through his tremendous attendance record at all chapter and lodge events. For his undying cheerful attitude and dedication to the Order, we happily nominate Chris Gallagher for the Jack J. Sophir, Arrowman of the Year Award.

Heather Henderson

Heather Henderson has been a tremendous example of dedication and enthusiasm within the Order. Heather has been the Chapter’s Ordeal Adviser for the past two years, during which she has worked tirelessly to ensure a successful ceremonial team program existed. She has attended countless Section Conclaves, Ceremonial Team Seminars, and attended ArrowCorps5 last summer. Additionally she has served the district as its Popcorn Chairman. Heather has been a great influence on her troop and has helped to make it one of the most active in the Order of the Arrow in the entire chapter. For her tremendous devotion to the Order of the Arrow, we cheerfully nominate Heather Henderson for the Jack J. Sophir, Arrowman of the Year Award.

Luke Henderson

Eagle Scout Luke Henderson has truly lived the ideals of Brotherhood, Cheerfulness, and Service. Luke has served the chapter as Secretary, twice as Camp Promotion Chairman, and is currently serving as the Program Chairman. Luke has served on NYLT staff for two summers, and attended ArrowCorps5 last summer. He has been on the Chapter’s ceremonial teams for many years. Additionally, Luke has served on numerous Camporee and Klondike staffs. Luke is always willing to help out whenever called upon. For his relentless service to the Order of the Arrow, we enthusiastically nominate Luke Henderson for the Jack J. Sophir Arrowman of the Year Award.

Mark Zumwalt

Mark Zumwalt has been part of the Boy Scouts of America for many years and supported both his troop and the district with his shinning face and never ending service. He has helped scouts and staff at all chapter and district events as Quartermaster and hasn’t missed a Camporee for over a decade. He has also taught adult leader training during summer camp, and received his beads for wood badge. For his much appreciated dedication to the Pathfinder district we proudly nominate Mark Zumwalt the Jack J. Sophir, Arrowman of the Year Award.
